You have questions.
We have real answers.
We're a different kind of biotech company. Before you apply, collaborate, or invest — here's everything you need to know about us.
About Oxygen Bioinnovations
What exactly is Oxygen Bioinnovations? What do you do?
Oxygen Bioinnovations is a biotechnology R&D startup based at the Technology Business Incubator (TBI), Adhiyamaan College of Engineering, Hosur, Tamil Nadu. We research, develop, and commercialise probiotic-based food products, bio-cosmetics, and nutraceuticals — using the science of beneficial microorganisms to build products that genuinely improve people's lives.
But more than that — we are a company built on a simple but radical idea: we ask and solve problems that have never been asked before. We don't follow the market. We question what others have accepted as normal.
Are you a product company or a research company?
Both — by design. We are currently in the R&D stage, which means we are actively building our research foundation, laboratory capabilities, and product pipeline. We are not just an academic lab, and we are not just a product company. Think of us as a research-to-market engine — everything we research is intended to eventually reach real people as real products.
We also offer contract research, technical consultancy, and internship/mentorship programs as part of our operations.
What problem are you solving? Why does this matter?
Most biotech companies solve problems that are already on the radar — diseases that already have funding, markets that already exist. We work differently. We identify gaps that society hasn't even articulated yet — in gut health, skin microbiome, food safety, and sustainable bio-based materials — and we build solutions for those gaps.
The world is full of unquestioned problems — things people accept as "just the way it is." We don't. That's our edge.
Where are you located? Can I visit?
We are based at the Technology Business Incubator (TBI), Adhiyamaan College of Engineering, Hosur, Tamil Nadu. As a TBI-incubated startup, we operate within the college campus.
Visits are by appointment only. If you'd like to meet us, write to info@oxygenbioinnovations.com with your purpose and we'll arrange a meeting.
Are you a registered company?
Yes. Oxygen Bioinnovations Private Limited is a duly incorporated Private Limited Company under the Companies Act, 2013, registered in Tamil Nadu, India. We are currently completing our incorporation process (SPICe+ filing) and will be fully operational as a legal entity shortly.
Working at Oxygen Bioinnovations
I applied for a Research Associate role. What will I actually be doing day-to-day?
This is the most common question we get — and it's a fair one. At Oxygen Bioinnovations, a Research Associate is not a lab assistant. You will be an active contributor to our R&D mission. Your day-to-day work will include:
- Designing and running microbiology and fermentation experiments
- Developing and testing probiotic formulations for food or cosmetic applications
- Analysing experimental data and contributing to research documentation
- Reading scientific literature and translating insights into experiments
- Collaborating directly with the founder on product development decisions
Because we are small, your work directly shapes the company. There's no bureaucracy between your bench and the business.
What qualifications do you look for when hiring?
For research roles, we look for candidates with a background in Biotechnology, Microbiology, Food Science, Biochemistry, or related life sciences. But qualifications alone don't define our hiring decisions. What we value more:
- Genuine scientific curiosity — you ask "why" not just "how"
- Ability to work independently and figure things out
- Comfort with ambiguity — we are a startup, not a textbook
- Willingness to learn across disciplines (food science + cosmetics + microbiology)
- Honesty and integrity in your work and communication
You're a startup. Is my job secure here?
We will be honest with you: joining an early-stage startup carries more uncertainty than joining an established company. We will not pretend otherwise.
What we can tell you is this: we are building a company with long-term intent, not a short-term project. We are backed by a TBI, actively pursuing government grants and investment, and building a real product pipeline. We treat every person we hire as a long-term investment, not a resource to be discarded.
How do I apply for a job?
Please send your CV and a short note (3–5 sentences) explaining why you want to work at Oxygen Bioinnovations specifically — not a generic cover letter — to careers@oxygenbioinnovations.com.
Internships & Mentorship
Do you offer internships? Who can apply?
Yes — internships and project mentorship are a core part of what we do. We welcome applications from:
- Undergraduate students (BSc / BTech) in Biotechnology, Microbiology, Food Science, Biochemistry, or Cosmetic Science
- Postgraduate students (MSc / MTech) looking for dissertation or project work
- Students from any Indian college or university
Internships are available for durations ranging from 1 month to 6 months, depending on your academic requirement and our project needs.
Are internships paid or unpaid?
We offer both paid and unpaid internships depending on the role, duration, and contribution level.
- Paid internships — for students contributing to active R&D projects, typically 3–6 months. Stipend is discussed at the time of selection.
- Unpaid internships — for shorter durations or academic project work. You receive a certificate of completion, a detailed work experience letter, and a letter of recommendation upon satisfactory completion.
We do not charge any fees for internships. Anyone asking you to pay for an internship at Oxygen Bioinnovations is not authorised by us.
What will I actually learn during an internship here?
Unlike internships at large companies where you may spend weeks on data entry or shadow work, at Oxygen Bioinnovations you get real hands-on R&D experience from day one.
- Probiotic strain isolation, characterisation, and culture maintenance
- Fermentation process development and scale-up
- Food or cosmetic formulation development and stability testing
- Analytical testing — pH, viscosity, microbial counts, bioassays
You will be mentored directly by the founder and work alongside the core team — not handed off to a junior employee.
Salary & Compensation
What is the salary for research positions?
We are an early-stage startup and we will be transparent about this: our current salaries are competitive for a TBI-stage biotech startup, not comparable to a large pharma or FMCG company. Specific compensation is discussed individually.
What we offer beyond the salary:
- Direct mentorship from the founder
- Opportunity to co-author research publications and patent filings
- ESOP (Employee Stock Options) — equity in the company for key contributors
- A work environment where your contribution is visible and valued
When is salary paid each month?
Salaries are paid on or before the 5th working day of the following month via direct bank transfer. Intern stipends follow the same schedule.
You will receive a pay slip each month detailing your gross pay, any deductions (TDS where applicable), and net pay.
Work Culture
How would you describe the work culture at Oxygen Bioinnovations?
Three words: Curious. Rigorous. Honest.
We are a small team working on big questions. That means everyone — from intern to founder — is expected to think, question, and contribute. There are no sacred assumptions here. If you think an experiment is designed wrong, say so. If you have a better idea, bring it. We don't value hierarchy — we value good thinking.
At the same time, we hold ourselves to high scientific standards. Cutting corners in the lab is not acceptable. Data integrity is non-negotiable.
Is it a stressful place to work?
Honest answer: early-stage startups are demanding. There will be days when experiments fail, timelines shift, and problems don't have easy answers. That comes with the territory of doing new science in a new company.
What we commit to: we will never create stress through poor management, unclear expectations, or toxic behaviour. Stress from the work itself is natural. Stress from the environment is preventable — and we work hard to prevent it.
What is your policy on workplace harassment?
Zero tolerance. We are fully committed to providing a safe, respectful, and inclusive workplace for everyone — regardless of gender, religion, caste, language, or background.
We comply with the POSH Act and have clear grievance procedures in place. Any complaint is handled with confidentiality and seriousness.
Investment & Collaboration
Are you open to investment?
Yes — we are actively open to investment from angels, early-stage VCs, and impact investors who believe in science-led innovation and the potential of probiotic biotechnology.
- Understand deep tech and biotech timelines
- Value IP-driven, research-first business models
- Are interested in the intersection of food, cosmetics, and human health

- Hospitals and clinical institutions (for probiotic health research)
All collaborations are governed by a formal MOU or collaboration agreement.
